Wagyu and Caramelised Onion Ciabatta Rolls

Juicy Wagyu steak in a deliciously soft ciabatta roll.

Ingredients

  • 2 Wagyu Fillet Steaks
  • 300g Ciabatta Loaf  
  • 2 Large Red Onions  
  • 30ml Olive Oil
  • 30g Salted Butter
  • 15g Soft Brown Sugar  
  • 15ml Balsamic Vinegar  
  • 4 Vine Tomatoes  
  • 40g Fresh Rocket    
  • Sea Salt and Black Pepper

  

Method

  1. Bake the ciabatta in the oven, following directions on the pack.  
  2. Peel and thickly slice the onions.  
  3. Melt the butter in a large frying pan and add olive oil.  
  4. Gently sauté the onions for 10 minutes, then add the sugar and vinegar and season with salt and black pepper.
  5. Increase the heat and cook until sticky, then place on one side.  
  6. Grill, fry or griddle the steaks for about 5 minutes each side, then allow to rest a few minutes.  
  7. Slice the ciabatta in half, lengthways, then cut into 4.  
  8. Thinly slice the tomatoes and divide the rocket and tomatoes between the bottom rolls.
  9. Slice the steaks and place on top, then pile on the onions.
  10. Place the ciabatta tops on and serve.
